ANIMAL PRINTS:
Animals often leaves behind clues about their everyday lives. HAVE YOU GONE OUTSIDE AND LOOKED IN YOUR YARD? IT CAN BE IN THE WINTER OR THE SUMMER THERE ARE ALWAYS PLACES IMPRESSIONS CAN BE LEFT BEHIND.
These tracks that animals leave behind tell people about the animals habits. If an investigator finds animal tracks, it can give them a lot of information about that animal. They can estimate how big the animal was and how it moved. They can also look at the track to figure out what kind of animal it was . For example: both dogs and cats have four toes around a pad, but dog tracks usually show claws. |
Animals sometimes leave bits of themselves behind as well. An animal's fur can accidentally get caught on a rough surface, or an animal may leave behind fur when it rubs against something like a tree. Birds leave clues behind as well, not only in their tracks, but their feather's can fall out or be left behind when they are killed by a predator.

Animals can leave behind marks when they search for food or gather materials. Some animals follow a path that is well used, and other paths are created because of ease.
